Joel Bird is the author of ‘The Table Maker’ and ‘The Book of Shed.’ His books are part meditation and part guide book; his ethos is to show the reader how to make something with their own hands, while at the same time explaining how the philosophies and traditions of craft can help us reconnect to the world and understand a little more about what it means to be human. Joel Bird is currently writing his first novel, due for publication 2027.

Joel Bird also illustrates and takes the photographs for his books, his wide and varied skill set gives him a unique perspective on the ambitious projects he undertakes. He has also written for a variety of publications including ‘The Self Build & Design Magazine’ and ‘The shortlist Magazine’, and he has presented talks for events such as ‘The Munster Biennial’, ‘Grand Designs Live’ and ‘The Garden Show Ireland’.
